Week 6
Things are getting real. 6 weeks in and we’re not sure how long this is going to last.
If nothing else, we’re more than grateful we have each other during this time.
Some things really aren’t changing. Week after week you’ll find that we’re still hanging out in the backyard as much as possible.
If it’s not raining, cold, or incredibly hot, we’re going to be outside.
Day and night. After all, s’mores are ideal for anytime!
And this girl still isn’t letting go of her sidewalk chalk. We’ve ordered more but it’s been weeks and we don’t have a delivery date yet.
When we’re inside, the play food is usually the activity of choice by the toddler.
At least we can pretend we’re enjoying a cold, refreshing drink somewhere other than home, right?!
Speaking of said toddler, we also enjoy finding new things to introduce her to.
For instance, week 4 it was a big frog. This week?
An earthworm! Another fun idea brought to us by Aunt Jaden.
Of course, sometimes we shake it up for her outside too.
Her grandpa ordered this Step2 wagon for her quite some time ago, and it’s seeing plenty of use now!
She loves going for walks around the neighborhood in it, as well as walks around the kitchen.
I’m not sure if it’s a good or bad thing, but Riley wasn’t around when we ran into this guy.
Although it’s a harmless Texas garter snake, we didn’t want him rustling around our landscaping. We’re not convinced Riley won’t think it’s a worm and try to pick it up.
Thankfully we were able to relocate him to a creek near the front of our neighborhood instead.
As for this sun-drenched cutie, she still loves her little kiddie pool. It’s all about splashing for her right now.
Well, that and her “dada.”
Honestly, both of these two love their dads. Here they stand at the back door looking in waiting for one or the other to come back outside.
Oh! Plus we started our backyard summer project!
The whole family pitched in to help.
Whether watching Riley, digging, tossing dirt, breaking down clumps, or wetting down the area, there was plenty to keep everyone busy.
It took several days of work to get everything done, but we’re almost to the end of this part so we can move on to the next phase.
