DIY Faux Canvas Photos with HP Photo Creations
Do you have photos on your computer or digital card that you need to print out? I know most of us do. It is simply the way things are in our technological world. With the holidays here, I wanted to do something nice for my only niece. She graduates in 2015 and I took some Senior shots of her a few months ago. My sister and her family also recently moved and, therefore, there are walls to decorate! As I began to think about gift ideas, I decided on a photo craft for my niece. Using HP Photo Creations, I could print out the 5×7″ prints I needed in no time… and without hassle. A few clicks of a button and my pictures were printed and in my hands ready to craft.
Having tried a few photo creations before, I wanted to try a new medium and discovered foam board. Why? It’s easy to work with… and perhaps one of the most affordable as well. By printing out the pictures with your HP printer and paper, you can cut costs even more. Just take a look at how easy and beautiful these DIY Faux Canvas Photos can turn out!
Supplies:
- 5×7″ matte paper (or other size based on your needs/preference)
- foam board
- X-ACTO knife (or similar blade)
- rubber cement
Directions:
- Download and use HP Photo Creations to print out the photos you need for the project.
- Once printed, align 2 sides in a corner of the foam board and prepare to trim around the outside. Keep picture straight and use X-ACTO knife to cut out.
- Apply a thin layer of rubber cement to the foam board and glue picture to it. Smooth out and let dry. (Be sure to apply glue to entire surface to avoid bubbles in the middle of the picture).
- Allow to dry and you have your faux photo canvas!
You can do this with any size picture and even customize if further. Grab black foam board, use paint around the edges or combine the photos for another craft such as this:
Simply print out small squares of each photo and apply to foam board. Then, use a stapler to attach wide ribbon to the back middle of each canvas. You now have a beautiful display of photos to share with your guest.
